Crystal-Trade or a classic bridge: what is the difference
| Crystal-Trade | Classic bridge | |
|---|---|---|
| What you receive | USDT on Polygon PoS | Depends on the bridge: on some networks it is a bridged version of the token |
| Wallet connection and approvals | Not needed: you send coins to the order address | Needed: you connect a wallet and sign contract transactions |
| Coins for fees on Polygon PoS | Not needed to receive | Often needed to claim funds or move them after the bridge |
| Time | After the OP Mainnet (Optimism) confirmations; the status is shown on the order page | Depends on the bridge and the load of both networks |
| Who holds the funds during the transfer | Crystal-Trade, for the duration of the order (with an AML check) | The bridge smart contract or its validators |

What to know about Tether Optimism and Tether Polygon
Tether (USDT)
Tether (USDT) is the largest stablecoin: a token designed to stay at one US dollar. It was launched in 2014 by Tether Limited, which issues USDT against reserves that consist mostly of cash equivalents and short-term US Treasury bills.
Sending and receiving USDT
The key choice is the network. USDT on TRON is popular for its low fees and speed, ERC20 is supported almost everywhere but costs more in gas, while Solana, TON and BEP20 are cheap alternatives. The recipient address must belong to the same network you send on, and you need the network's native coin (TRX, ETH, BNB…) to pay the fee from your own wallet.
Optimism network
Optimism is an Ethereum layer-2 network. Addresses use the Ethereum format and fees are paid in ETH at a fraction of mainnet cost.
Polygon network
Polygon PoS is an Ethereum-compatible network with addresses in the same 0x format. Fees are paid in POL and usually cost a fraction of a cent.
How to exchange Tether Optimism to Tether Polygon
- Enter the USDT Optimism amount in the calculator (minimum 200 USDT Optimism) and click “Go to exchange”.
- Enter your USDT wallet address on the Polygon network and your contact details.
- Send exactly the specified amount of USDT Optimism on the Optimism network to the details shown in the order.
- Once the transfer is confirmed, Tether Polygon is sent to your address. You can track the order on its status page.
What to check before exchanging USDT Optimism to USDT Polygon
- The recipient address must be on the Polygon network: funds sent on another network may be lost.
- The amount sent must be at least 200 USDT Optimism.
- Copy the whole address and check the first and last characters after pasting.
- Addresses on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, BNB Smart Chain and Polygon look the same (0x…): make sure the wallet shows Polygon PoS as the network.
- To move USDT on Polygon PoS later, you will need a little POL on the same address.
- Funds go through an AML check; high-risk transfers may be held until the check is complete.
