Crypto halvings: dates and countdown

Coins whose block reward halves on schedule: Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Bitcoin (BTC) and Zcash (ZEC). Dates are estimated from the current block height and are updated every hour.

What a halving is

A halving is a rule written into the coin itself: after a set number of blocks the reward for a new block is cut in half. New coins then enter circulation twice as slowly, which is how a fixed maximum supply is reached.

How these dates are calculated

A halving happens at a block, not on a date. We take the current block height and the average block time over the last 24 hours, and count how long the remaining blocks will take. Blocks are found at a random pace, so the estimate shifts by a few days and is recalculated every hour.

Halvings: FAQ

Which halving is next?
Litecoin: around Jul 21, 2027, 182,468 blocks left. The reward will fall from 6.25 to 3.125 LTC.
Which coins have a halving?
Of the coins we exchange — Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Bitcoin (BTC) and Zcash (ZEC). They all inherit the Bitcoin model: a limited supply and a reward that is cut in half on schedule. Coins without a supply cap, and those with a different issue model, have no halving.
Why do the dates keep moving?
Because a halving is tied to a block number. Miners find blocks faster or slower depending on how much equipment is running, so the date drifts by a few days as the block rate changes.
Does a halving change the rate?
A halving reduces the number of new coins entering the market, but the rate depends on many factors. Past halvings do not guarantee future price changes; this is not investment advice.
