What a halving is

A halving is a rule built into Bitcoin Cash: every 210,000 blocks the reward for a new block is cut in half. It slows down the issue of new BCH until the maximum supply of 21 M BCH is reached.

Bitcoin Cash split from Bitcoin in August 2017 at block 478,558, so its first two halvings are shared with Bitcoin; after that the networks halve at the same block heights but on different dates.

How the date is estimated

The date is calculated from the number of blocks left and the average block time over the last 24 hours (~10.4 min). Blocks are found at a random pace, so the estimate shifts by a few days: the halving happens at block 1,050,000, not on a fixed date.
