What is Chainlink
Chainlink (LINK) is a decentralized oracle network founded by Sergey Nazarov and Steve Ellis; the token launched in 2017. Oracles deliver real-world data, such as asset prices, to smart contracts.
How Chainlink works
Independent node operators fetch data from many sources and publish aggregated results on-chain. Chainlink also provides cross-chain messaging (CCIP) and other services. LINK is used to pay node operators and as a stake that secures their work. The maximum supply is 1 billion LINK.
What Chainlink is used for
Most large DeFi protocols rely on Chainlink price feeds; LINK is used to pay for these services and for staking.
Sending and receiving LINK
LINK is a token on Ethereum (ERC20-compatible) and is also bridged to other networks. Check the network before sending and keep ETH or the relevant native coin for fees.
