What is Gram (Toncoin)
Gram (formerly Toncoin, TON) is the native coin of The Open Network, a blockchain originally designed by the Telegram team. After Telegram stepped away from the project in 2020, development was continued by the community and the TON Foundation.
How Gram (Toncoin) works
TON uses Proof of Stake and a multi-chain architecture: a masterchain coordinates workchains that can split into shards to handle more transactions in parallel. Tokens on TON follow the Jetton standard.
What Gram (Toncoin) is used for
The coin pays fees on TON and is used in wallets and mini-apps inside Telegram, for payments, staking and trading of Jettons such as USDT on TON.
Sending and receiving GRAM
TON addresses come in two formats (starting with UQ or EQ) that point to the same account. Exchanges usually require a comment (memo) with deposits — without it the funds may not be credited. Transfers take a few seconds.
