What to know about Ethereum and Bitcoin
Ethereum (ETH)
Ethereum is a programmable blockchain proposed by Vitalik Buterin and launched in 2015. Its native coin, ETH, pays for computation on the network. Thousands of tokens, stablecoins, decentralized exchanges, lending protocols and NFT collections run on Ethereum.
Sending and receiving ETH
Ethereum addresses start with 0x and are the same format on BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum, Optimism and Polygon — so always check which network the recipient expects. The fee (gas) is paid in ETH and depends on network load; a transfer is usually confirmed within a few minutes.
Bitcoin (BTC)
Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency. It was described in a 2008 white paper by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto and launched in January 2009. Bitcoin has no issuer or central operator: the rules are enforced by thousands of independent nodes, and the supply is capped at 21 million coins.
How Bitcoin works
The network uses Proof of Work with the SHA-256 algorithm: miners compete to add a new block roughly every 10 minutes and receive newly issued coins plus fees. Every 210,000 blocks (about four years) the block reward is cut in half, which slows issuance until the 21 million cap is reached. Balances are tracked as unspent transaction outputs (UTXO).
BNB Smart Chain (BEP20) network
BEP20 is the token standard on BNB Smart Chain, an Ethereum-compatible network. Addresses look like Ethereum addresses, and fees are paid in BNB and are usually low.
How to exchange Ethereum to Bitcoin
- Enter the ETH BEP20 amount in the calculator (minimum 0.08888 ETH BEP20) and click “Go to exchange”.
- Enter your BTC wallet address on the Bitcoin network and your contact details.
- Send exactly the specified amount of ETH BEP20 on the BNB Smart Chain (BEP20) network to the details shown in the order.
- Once the transfer is confirmed, Bitcoin is sent to your address. You can track the order on its status page.
What to check before exchanging ETH BEP20 to BTC
- The recipient address must be on the Bitcoin network: funds sent on another network may be lost.
- The amount sent must be at least 0.08888 ETH BEP20.
- Copy the whole address and check the first and last characters after pasting.
- Funds go through an AML check; high-risk transfers may be held until the check is complete.
