EOS: a complete guide
What is EOS
EOS is a blockchain launched in 2018 by Block.one after one of the largest token sales in crypto history. It is now developed by the community and the EOS Network Foundation.
How EOS works
EOS uses Delegated Proof of Stake with 21 elected block producers and blocks every half a second. Instead of per-transaction fees, accounts use CPU, NET and RAM resources that are obtained with EOS.
What EOS is used for
EOS is used to obtain network resources, for staking and voting, and in applications built on the network.
Sending and receiving EOS
EOS accounts have names of up to 12 characters instead of long addresses. Exchanges require a Memo with deposits — without it the funds may not be credited.
Where to store EOS
EOS is supported by Anchor and other EOSIO wallets and by hardware wallets.
Risks and things to know
Creating an account requires resources, which can be confusing for new users. A missing Memo is the most common deposit error.
