What to know about Ethereum and Cardano
Ethereum (ETH)
Ethereum is a programmable blockchain proposed by Vitalik Buterin and launched in 2015. Its native coin, ETH, pays for computation on the network. Thousands of tokens, stablecoins, decentralized exchanges, lending protocols and NFT collections run on Ethereum.
Sending and receiving ETH
Ethereum addresses start with 0x and are the same format on BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum, Optimism and Polygon — so always check which network the recipient expects. The fee (gas) is paid in ETH and depends on network load; a transfer is usually confirmed within a few minutes.
Cardano (ADA)
Cardano (ADA) is a Proof of Stake blockchain launched in 2017 and led by Charles Hoskinson, one of the co-founders of Ethereum. The project is known for its research-driven, peer-reviewed approach to development.
How Cardano works
Cardano uses the Ouroboros consensus protocol, with a block about every 20 seconds, and an extended UTXO model. ADA holders can delegate to stake pools without locking their coins. The maximum supply is 45 billion ADA.
Arbitrum One network
Arbitrum One is an Ethereum layer-2 network. Addresses use the Ethereum format, fees are paid in ETH and are much lower than on the Ethereum mainnet.
How to exchange Ethereum to Cardano
- Enter the ETH Arbitrum amount in the calculator (minimum 0.0725711 ETH Arbitrum) and click “Go to exchange”.
- Enter your ADA wallet address on the Cardano network and your contact details.
- Send exactly the specified amount of ETH Arbitrum on the Arbitrum One network to the details shown in the order.
- Once the transfer is confirmed, Cardano is sent to your address. You can track the order on its status page.
What to check before exchanging ETH Arbitrum to ADA
- The recipient address must be on the Cardano network: funds sent on another network may be lost.
- The amount sent must be at least 0.0725711 ETH Arbitrum.
- Copy the whole address and check the first and last characters after pasting.
- Funds go through an AML check; high-risk transfers may be held until the check is complete.
